Welcome to the SCADA mail list Server Site. (scadaperspective.com)

Currently the SCADA mailing list has over 1000 subscribed email users.

Many of these are company email distribution lists which rebroadcast the SCADA mailing list in the company internal e-mail system, and subsequently the SCADA mailing list reaches over an estimated 4000 people.

Purpose of list

This mailing list was estalished as a forum to allow information exchange between all interested parties regarding SCADA systems, to discuss standards in the SCADA industry, with the aim to achieving acceptance of standards that will improve broader understanding, operation, and interoperability of equipment and systems.

Topics of general interest to the SCADA community are welcome. The charter of the mailing list will be updated to reflect the input of general consensus to the list!

This is intended to give members information about current trends in the marketplace. Try to make the postings informative to a technical audience.

The organisers of trade shows and conferences associated with SCADA are encouraged to provide information both before and after the show ( the presenters are also encouraged to provide copies of their papers to the list).

New subscribers - please introduce yourself to the list with a short (or even long ) message describing yourself, your company, etc. Anything you wish.

Guidelines

1. PLEASE POST MESSAGES! Only a small percentage of subscribers to any mailing list participate. Unless subscribers actively participate the maillist will become silent and pointless. If you post a request for information, please try to give something back to the mailing list by summarising all the replies and posting the summary back to the list.

2. Please post thoughtfully. A considered post or response will generate considered replies, and valuable discussion could follow.

3. Try to keep arguments on a technical or business level, not on a personal level.

4. Please sign your message.

5. Remember scada@scadaperspective.com is the posting mail address. Be careful not to post personal communications to the list inadvertently. It may embarrass you.

6. You are encouraged to actively promote the existence of the maillist eg on amongst your colleagues, etc.

7. You are encouraged to use your email program to create a folder called "subscriptions" or something similar. Move this mail message to this folder and leave it there. Whenever you join any mail list save the instructions you get when subscribing to this folder. Now whenever you wish to leave a mail list, you will be able to find the instructions on how to leave.

8. Mail addressed to scada@scadaperspective.com is automatically forwarded to over 4000 people who receive the mail sent to the list. When you receive mail from the list, you will find that you can reply to the mail in your email program by using the "reply" feature of your email program.

The scada mailing list is set up so that replies go back to the list (ie to scada@scadaperspective.com) automatically. This is done to promote discussion on the list, rather than to have a posting generate a lot of private correspondence off the list. In this way everyone benefits from the discussion, and different points of view can be represented.

Sometimes this may not be what you intend. For example if someone posts a job opportunity on the list, and you responded with your CV, you may not want 3999 people (including your employer) to be aware that you are looking for alternative employment. In these cases you must be careful to ensure that your email is sent to the address of the person who originally posted the message, rather than to scada@scadaperspective.com.

For the sake of other users can you please endeavour to only post your reply without the previous thread contents as this can be quite confusing to future recipients and even harder when view the list contents in digest form.

Experienced Internet users will, I am certain, understand these concepts.
